Very short ride. I wanted to take one from the airport to downtown but they don’t pick up at the airport. So I accidentally went to the wrong hotel and my actual hotel was three blocks away. Mayla didn’t want to walk as her knee was acting up from the flight, I was embarrassed to call a human being for a 0.2 block ride. So it was a perfect solution. I’ll probably keep taking them while I’m here.

That is such a cool song. And good advice for those of us with stage fright.

@Mik said in Baby healed in world’s first customized gene therapy: Of course, then one could not be non-GMO. That'll stir up the tree huggers and anti-vaxxers. Then don’t eat them… or take the therapy. It’s your choice. Of course, the mutant flesh eating zombies will affect everyone..

    I just double checked my 401K. I’m up 13% since April 23.

@Mik said in Maybe this person can explain how tariffs increase prosperity: @jon-nyc said in Maybe this person can explain how tariffs increase prosperity: At least they can use them most of the year. What I don’t get is people who put them in up here. An expensive three weeks for sure. When we were moving up here 12 years ago, the realtor showed me a house with a pool. I said I wasn’t interested because I had to pay for it three times. Once in the purchase price, once to get it filled in, and again with higher taxes that come with the pool.

I've been to Toronto a lot. I think you might be a bit disappointed if you went there as a replacement for NYC, unless you just want to meet really obnoxious locals.

I discovered that I was subscribing to Max twice. I am afraid to look for how long. It comes with my AT&T wireless bundle, but I was also subscribing as an add-on with my hulu. I removed it and added Disney+ for an extra $1 per month. I couldn't afford not to.

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russian-economy-worse-shape-than-moscow-says-report-eu-shows-2025-05-13/ The report, prepared for talks of European Union finance ministers, said that while still relatively stable, the Russian economy was only superficially resilient and that underlying imbalances and structural weaknesses were growing. "The fiscal stimulus of the war economy has kept the economy afloat in the short term, but the reliance on opaque financing, distortionary resource allocation, and shrinking fiscal buffers makes it unsustainable in the long term. Contrary to Kremlin narratives, time is not on Russia's side," it said.

@Mik That is a good point. I remember hearing a CEO who said, "the only decisions I SHOULD make are those that nobody else CAN make."

Those were completely different times that didn't require the level of nuance we need now.
